Members of Carlisle Aquatics took part in the Epic event at
Ullswater at the weekend. Alan Young entered the 3.8k event
whereas Stephen and Vanessa Foster were less adventurous and plumbed for the
mile event. The weather was surprisingly pleasant considering the summer we are
having but the water was cold compared to Derwent water where we train. This
was a reminder as to why we initially moved from Ullswater to Derwent Water a
couple of years ago. The events were called Jubilee swims and were started by
officials in blazers and straw boaters who got each wave to sing the national
anthem in the water before starting the event. Very patriotic!
